Project Proposals

Grid of Roads
Establishing a grid of roads along the Outer Ring Road, connecting with various villages in the vicinity serve as crucial links connecting to the Outer Ring Road. This strategic connectivity is designed to improve transportation in Tharamangalam Municipality and, paving the way for their continued development. Additionally, the proposed roads play a pivotal role in completing the envisioned Outer Ring Road, thereby reinforcing the overall transportation infrastructure in the region

Cycle Tracks
Establishment of a dedicated cycle track, featuring a recommended width of 2 meters aligns with global trends in urban planning, promoting environmentally conscious modes of commuting. The cycle track not only encourages a healthier lifestyle but also contributes to reducing the city's carbon footprint, aligning Salem Corporation with a more sustainable and resilient future.

Truck Terminal
Establishment of truck terminals in the peri-urban areas along all arterial roads to alleviate congestion on the ring roads caused by heavy traffic. This facility proposed
Near Omalur Market, Ariyanur market, Seelanayakanpatti Market and Ayothiyapatinam Market, aims to efficiently distribute goods to their city destinations using smaller vehicles.

Flood Management
Flood-prone areas within the Salem Municipal Corporation have been identified to address the vulnerabilities along the Tirumanimuthar River. The areas of concern, including Chinneri Vayakadu, Konerikkari, and Sivathapuram, have experienced challenges such as overflowing of the Thirumanimuthar River, issues related to Selathanpatti Lake, runoff water from Jerugumalai Reserved Forest, and problems in low-lying areas. Hence the Flood Mitigation plan for Salem will have to be dynamic and adaptive, considering the evolving climate patterns and urban development.

Strip Parks
To address the identified flood-vulnerable zones and leverage the riparian zone's importance along the Thirumanimuthar River two specific areas, Konerikkarai (Ward No: 24) and Chinneri Vayakadu (Ward No: 26), near NH 44, have been marked for the creation of strip parks. These green spaces, totaling 4.196 hectares and 1.94 hectares, respectively, aim to serve as essential components of blue-green infrastructure.

Rejuvenation of Panamarathupatti Lake
Rejuvenation aims to tap into runoff rainfall water from Jerugumalai, leveraging an average annual rainfall of 945.7 mm. Panamarathupatti Lake supplied water to the region, and with proper restoration, it has the potential to provide an additional 240 MLD (Million Liters per Day) of water supply by 2041. The Panamarathupatti Lake rejuvenation is crucial for Salem's Water Management.

New Sports Centre
Strategically proposed at Karuppur, as it will enhance community connectivity, fostering social interaction and lasting connections. Beyond sports, the center promotes a healthy lifestyle, contributing to the overall well-being and pride of the community.

Affordable Housing
Affordable housing initiatives for Urban Poor aims to address the housing needs of diverse socio-economic segments within Salem. By creating designated zones for affordable housing, this plan ensures that a significant portion of the population has access to decent and reasonably priced homes. Such initiatives involve collaboration with housing authorities, developers, and financial institutions to create sustainable models that offer affordable homeownership or rental options.
