Master Plan

A master plan is a comprehensive development plan prepared, for a particular area declared by the Government as Local Planning Area (LPA) under the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act, which gives a road map for the future development over the next 20 years to attain a sustainable and eco-friendly urban development.

Master Plan is comprehensive, long term development plan which integrates various aspects like economical growth, mobility, environmental sustainability, and heritage preservation etc.  This document ensures the balanced growth of the city in future.

Master Plan of 
SALEM LPA

The first master plan for the old Salem LPA was prepared and it came to enactment following a Government order in the year 2005. The master plan was prepared for an area of 643.17 Sq.Km and it provides the land use framework for the future development of the old Salem LPA upto the year 2011.

Now the second master plan for the expanded Salem LPA has been prepared for an area of 1273.20 Sq.Km using GIS platforms under the AMRUT sub-scheme of the Government of India.
